One must be a hard core fan of Microsoft to opt Lumia 950 XL phablet instead of an Android or iOS phones. Microsoft has always tried its best to give a Windows phone which features Android style flexibility while providing the look and finish of an iPhone.
Microsoft Lumia 950 XL is the new flagship of Microsoft which offers a new gen phablet with Windows 10 OS. Retaining the classic features from its past like MS Office, it has tried to input a plenty of new and unique set of features.
- Continuum and Windows Hello is the new charm
- Very good quality camera
- Replaceable battery
- Micro SD slot support
Few things about the new features
Seems like Microsoft has decided to provide features like front-facing camera and the Windows Hello eye and facial recognition system instead of a fingerprint reader.
The Continuum’s ability to turn a smartphone into a full-fledged PC is really impressive. It just needs a USB-C adapter which is plugged into the monitor and a wireless keyboard. It works seamlessly with the HDMI monitor with the Microsoft’s dock. With this feature, you can use your smartphone as an inexpensive laptop.
Casing and USB-C
Lumia 950 XL comes with a black plastic casing which has a plain look. But the attractive glass and metal finish of the camera lens gives it a stylish look. A replaceable battery and a micro SD slot is also offered.
Lumia 950 XL also has a USB-C port instead of the micro USB which ensures fast charging.
Display and Performance
The screen looks very big with a good balance of color, contrast and sharpness which is of course due to its AMOLED screen. The screen looks very sharp due to its high-resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The brightness could be an issue during a sunny day or otherwise the screen looks perfect.
The performance seems to be good with the eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor and 3GB of memory. It has a decent battery life even while using multiple apps continuously like gaming, texting, web browsing, video playback, camera, news updates and so on.
Lumia 950 XL is a bigger version of Lumia 950 with the new updates. This being a first smartphone to offer Windows 10 OS, it certainly creates excitement among Microsoft fans. However, Microsoft may have to refine and polish its new features like Windows Hello and Continuum for higher performances.
